When converting to PowerPoint makes sense

A PDF is handy for sending a finished presentation, but it is awkward when you need to change it — correct a figure, update a date or reuse a few slides in your own deck. Converting it back into a .pptx gives you slides you can open in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides and edit like any other presentation.

If the PDF is a long text document rather than slides, PDF to Word is usually the better fit, because paragraphs flow naturally in a document and not on a slide.

Step by step

  1. 1Sign in to your free account and open PDF to PowerPoint. The PDF is uploaded over HTTPS for this conversion, and the page tells you so before you start.
  2. 2Choose a PDF of up to 25 MB and 200 pages. For a longer file, use Split PDF first and keep only the pages you need.
  3. 3Wait while Convertora reads each page's size and the position of every piece of text, then builds one slide per page.
  4. 4Download the .pptx and open it in your presentation app.

What you get

Every page becomes exactly one slide, in the same order, at the page's own proportions — a portrait PDF gives portrait slides and a landscape PDF gives landscape slides. A blank page stays a blank slide rather than being dropped.

Text keeps its position and relative size, and each run of text is a normal text box you can retype, restyle or move. Nothing is flattened into a picture and nothing is invented: only text the PDF actually contains appears on a slide.

What isn't reproduced yet

Pictures, drawn graphics, background colours and the original fonts are not rebuilt yet, so a text-led document converts far more faithfully than a heavily designed one. If you mainly need the look of each page — for example to show it on screen — PDF to JPG turns every page into an image you can place on a slide instead.

A presentation can only have one slide size, so pages with unusual proportions are scaled to fit and centred, never cropped or squashed.

Tidying the slides afterwards

Apply your own theme or slide master first; it is the quickest way to give converted slides a consistent look. Then go through the deck once, fixing any line breaks that land awkwardly and re-adding logos or charts you need.

Scanned PDFs contain pictures of text, so there is nothing to place on a slide. You will see a clear message rather than a deck of empty slides.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

Yes, for this tool. It is converted in memory on our server and never written to storage; only the presentation is kept privately for up to an hour so you can download it, then deleted.

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free account. All existing tools provide free unlimited conversions.

Will animations or speaker notes come back?

No. A PDF doesn't store them, so they can't be recovered from it.
