Why turn a PDF into JPG images?

A PDF is great for keeping a document together, but it is awkward when you only need a picture of a page. Many chat apps, social networks, website builders and slide tools accept images but not PDFs, and a JPG preview opens instantly on any phone or computer.

Typical reasons to convert are posting a flyer or menu online, sending one page of a contract in a chat, putting a page from a report into a presentation, or uploading a document to a form that only takes images.

Step by step

  1. 1Open the PDF to JPG tool and add your PDF (up to 100 MB). Thumbnails of every page appear so you can see what you are converting.
  2. 2Untick any pages you don't need. By default, every page is included.
  3. 3Choose a quality level (Standard, High or Maximum) and a resolution: 72, 150 or 300 DPI.
  4. 4Convert. Each selected page becomes its own JPG file.
  5. 5Download a single image, or download all of them together as one ZIP file.

Choosing resolution and quality

Resolution (DPI) decides how many pixels each page gets. 72 DPI is enough for a quick preview or a message. 150 DPI is a good everyday choice: text is readable and files stay a sensible size. 300 DPI matches print quality and is the one to pick if you need to zoom into small print or print the image.

Quality decides how strongly the JPG is compressed. Standard gives the smallest files, Maximum keeps the most detail. If the result will be printed or read closely, use High or Maximum. For a long document, a lower DPI makes the conversion faster and the ZIP smaller.

JPG or PNG?

JPG suits pages with photos and is usually the smaller file. PNG is lossless, so text, charts and line drawings keep perfectly clean edges, at the cost of a bigger file. If your page is mostly text or diagrams and the edges look slightly soft as a JPG, try PDF to PNG instead. Both tools render pages on a white background, matching what you see in a PDF reader.

Common problems and fixes

The PDF won't open: password-protected PDFs can't be read. You will see a clear message; remove the password in the app that created the file, then try again.

The images are blurry: choose 150 or 300 DPI and High or Maximum quality.

The download is huge: lower the DPI, pick Standard quality, or untick pages you don't need.

It's a scanned document: that's fine. Scans convert normally because each page is rendered as a picture anyway.

Privacy

PDF to JPG runs entirely in your browser. The document is read and rendered on your own device and is never uploaded to a server. The images exist only on your device until you download them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert only one page of a PDF to JPG?

Yes. Untick every page except the one you want in the thumbnail grid, then convert. Only the selected pages are rendered.

Will this work with a long PDF?

Yes. Pages are rendered one at a time with progress shown. For very long documents, 72 or 150 DPI is faster and produces a smaller download.

How do I turn the JPGs back into a PDF?

Use JPG to PDF. Add the images in the order you want, and each one becomes a page of a new PDF.
