About compress image

Make photos and screenshots smaller so they load faster, fit an upload limit or attach to an email. Convertora re-encodes each image at the quality you choose and keeps the format exactly as it was — a JPG stays a JPG, a PNG stays a PNG, a WebP stays a WebP — so nothing downstream breaks. Dimensions are untouched, camera and location metadata are dropped in the process, and the before and after sizes are shown side by side. If an image is already so well optimised that re-encoding cannot beat it, you get the original file back instead of a larger one pretending to be a saving. Everything runs inside your browser, so the pictures never leave your device.

How it works

  1. 1Add one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images, up to 50 MB each.
  2. 2Choose Standard for the smallest files, High for a balance, or Maximum to stay closest to the original.
  3. 3Compare the new size with the original, then download each image or the whole set as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Does the format or size of the picture change?
No. The format stays the same and the width and height are untouched — only the amount of data used to store the image changes.
How much smaller will my file be?
Photos usually shrink a lot at Standard or High quality. PNG screenshots and already-optimised images shrink less, and when compression cannot beat the original you simply get the original file back.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser, so the image data never leaves your device.
Is any hidden information removed?
Yes. Re-encoding drops embedded metadata such as camera model and GPS location, which is usually welcome before sharing a photo.
